‘a searing production … a magnificently primal set, hauntingly lit … an exciting, demanding production of a provocative, disturbing play’ – Sunday Independent

‘stimulating and earthy, cerebral and austerely beautiful … no production of Knives in Hens should ever be definitive.  Landmark’s production makes more than a stab at it, though’ – The Irish Times

‘three actors at the top of their game … a really fine production’ – RTÉ, The View

‘haunting … excellent … outstanding’ – Sunday Times

‘this smouldering piece of dramatic intensity … told with a simple unpretentious poetic power … utterly compelling’ – Irish Mail on Sunday

‘Alan Gilsenan’s ethereal direction is pitch-perfect’ – Metro

‘the three actors are unremittingly riveting … superb production’ – Irish Independent

‘absolutely glorious … sensational … superb’ – RTÉ, Arena

Set in a God-fearing, pre-industrial rural community, a young woman comes to terms with an ancient hatred, an unexpected betrayal, and a growing awareness of her place in the world.

With a sensational cast – Lorcan Cranitch, Vincent Regan and Catherine Walker –and an award-winning creative team – film and theatre director Alan Gilsenan, Tony-nominated designer Joe Van?k and lighting designer Sinéad Wallace – Knives in Hens must finish 28th November.

Experience this fierce love story, underscored by live music from Eleanor Dawson, in the extraordinary space that housed Dublin’s first theatre in 1662 – the Smock Alley Theatre in Temple Bar.
