THE SMELL OF WANT

The Smell of Want
is a new dance theatre performance from Fitzgerald and Stapleton. Graphically honest, deeply-affecting and often darkly funny the work unfolds through a series of provocative short speeches and choreographed scenes which invite us to rethink our relationship to the boundaries between life and art.

Check your budget and chose from a luxury seat in the Winners Enclosure (only seven available per show, €17), an averagely comfy Plebeian seat (€15), a bog standard bench in Steerage (€13.50/€12 conc) or ask Box Office about the Lovers’ Swing (€15 per couple) for an extra special trip.

Suitable ages 16+, may contain nudity.
Audience members may be asked to leave at any point during the performance.

“Cutting edge theatre…” The Sunday Times on Fitzgerald & Stapleton

Review of The Smell of Want

“A darkly comic exploration of the cycle of life and death, time travel, dreams, songs, consumerism and more" Time Out New York

“These smart, sophisticated movers are adept at a fluid physical navigation in which the body can be task-oriented or sexually objectified or whatever is behind Door No. 3" The New York Times

"With flesh that is neither proud nor wounded but—like a sleeper sensing the lover or cat lying beside her—blurrily conscious of being unconscious. The Smell of Want is eerily, achingly homey. It seems to arise from a slumbering body, with that breath and heat, and light out for the mind." The Village Voice NY

"The audience didn’t move for several minutes after the performers had gone; we were getting over that shock – the utter exposure of being offered nakedness through and through" danceviewtimes NY

"It was a very abstract and intimate experience..Trust me, it sounds crazy, but you'll love it" Gayletter NY

There will be a post show discussion on Mon 7 and Wed 9 Nov 2011.
