The city of Thebes is damned; stricken by plague, its women are barren and its crops failing. Among them is a man with a curse and only his banishment can return the city to its former glory. As King Oedipus embarks on a search for the man at the centre of the city’s fate, he begins to uncover the truth behind his own past - a revelation that will change the course of his life forever.

The Bacchae, Classic Stage Ireland continues to explore the world of Ancient Greek drama with one of the founding myths of Western literature and greatest of all Greek plays, Sophocles'
Oedipus the King.
