CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS Project Brand New is back and looking for new talent and ideas.... OPEN CALL
Project Brand New is back, the fifth edition is running from 29 April to 1 May 2010 in the Space Upstairs. Submissions are open so if you’ve got an idea (big or small) now’s the time to let them know. You could join the likes of Victor and Gord, Luck, Rough, and Cirque de Légume, four award winning shows that all started life at PBN. PBN is an initiative that exists to provide a framework for theatre, dance, music and live art practitioners to develop new work for the stage outside traditional production models, offering you the opportunity to put new ideas into practice at a developmental stage, in an informal environment. Feedback is a key element of the process, and PBN provides a format for audience and artists exchange. Here's how it works: Over three nights in April/May 2010 8-12 pieces of new work made by you will be presented as part of PBN • Each piece can be up to twenty minutes in length. • You can make whatever you like. • You can use a video projector, a playback sound system and anything else you can get in and out of the space in a ten-minute turn around. If you are interested in submitting a proposal for consideration, you’ll need to do the following: 1. Describe your idea and where you would like to take it, in no more than 500 words 2. Explain why you want to show work in PBN and how you propose to solicit and incorporate feedback 3. Include CVs/biogs for each participant (If you are submitting a new play or musical text, it is helpful, though not essential, to include a draft of the extract you intend to present) Submissions will be assessed under the following criteria: *The artistic quality of your idea *The scope of your ambition *The practical needs of your idea Once the successful submissions have been selected the team behind PBN will work with you to assist you in bringing your ideas to fruition. Project Brand New is a not-for-profit venture, and does not have any additional budget for props or equipment.
