MICHAEL COLLINS BACK AT PROJECT ARTS CENTRE Writer and Actor Michael Collins returns this December.... Traveller Focus Week is a celebration and awareness raising week for Traveller issues held each year across the island of Ireland. As part of Traveller Focus Week 2009, Project Arts Centre is delighted to host Michael Collins performing World Apart Same Difference. Michael Collins is a member of the Irish Traveller community who has been an advocate of Traveller human rights for over 20 years. Michael would be most known for the role of Johnny Connors in RTE’s ‘Glenroe’, which he starred in for over 10 years. World Apart Same Difference is a performance piece exploring Traveller & African cultural similarities and differences. A traveller woman runs away from Domestic violence to England and meets and marries an African man. Michael most recently performed in Project Arts Centre in 2008 with his show It's a Cultural Thing or is it, A Traveller in Progress, which was presented by the Traveller Wagon Wheel Theatre Company. Funded by the Arts Council in conjunction with Travellers Week. |
